Moving into the final chapters. These FAQs get less and less substance. :(

Chapter VII: Yakusamashi [Disaster Awakening]

Q: This chapter is only in the anime?
A: Yes. This is a chapter included at the request of the original authors to fill in the viewers about information left out of the previous chapters. For example, there's more emphasis that Satoko was really rejected by the other villagers in this chapter.

Q: Why is Shion in the Hinamizawa school, and why is she forcing Satoko to eat pumpkins/squash?
A: Worlds where Shion attends school with the other kids are some of the best possible worlds. It signifies that Shion is honoring her promise to Satoshi to protect Satoko. As for the pumpkins, it's apparently another small detail about Satoko that doesn't really matter to the plot. (Like how Satoko and Satoshi were color-blind.)

Q: Keiichi doesn't suspect his friends, Mion and Shion get along well, everyone seems to be doing really well in this arc.
A: Yep. In general, the kids do better in the later arcs. Likely so the viewers don't have to watch the same tragedies happening, and also to show that a conclusion is soon coming.

Q: In this chapter, Hanyuu seems to be arguing with Rika not to give up. Doesn't this contradict Hanyuu's personality in the next chapter, which has "Hanyuu gave up" as the main reason the kids all failed?
A: Yeah, that is a bit noticeable. In the original games, there's a lot of emphasis that Hanyuu gave up, while Rika sorta lost hope over time. In additional chapters created beyond the original games (such as this one), there's more focus put on that Rika shares some of the blame since she was always half-giving up no matter which world she was put in, and that Hanyuu actually tried to encourage Rika to be braver. So, the Hanyuu/Rika dynamic is a bit complicated.

Q: Rena's 'message'?
A: The significance of Rena's message was that the Hinamizawa Gas Disaster was not natural. Rena escaping being gassed and then later being chased down and killed bloodily by the Yamainu proves this.

Q: Why do the nurses kill Satoko?
A: They're likely on the Yamainu payroll. At this point, it's harder to find things the Yamainu aren't responsible for.
